Artist Statement:
I'm interested in disciplined practices of non-attachment. In my art I work with processes that by my design restrict my ability to determine the results of my actions. My most recent paintings are the result of excavating layers of paint applied successively in varying levels of thicknesses. I am unable to determine specific visual results because aspects of the work that will eventually appear are buried under the surface as I am working. This way of working requires me to focus internally and pushes me to dig deep in aspiring toward a level of perfection in vision beyond what I would be able to determine working toward a particular result.
